Elisa Zied, CBS Early Show Nutrition and Diet Expert

Elisa Zied is a registered dietitian and a New York State certified nutritionist. For more than a decade, Elisa counseled individuals and families to manage their weight and various health conditions including diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. She also helped clients create individually tailored and realistic nutrition and lifestyle programs to meet their unique needs during various life stages including pregnancy and lactation, childhood and adolescence, and menopause.

For 5 years, Elisa has been a national media spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, the nation’s largest professional organization that represents almost 70,000 nutrition professionals. Reporters and producers regularly seek out Elisa's nutrition expertise and real-world approach to nutrition. She has appeared on CBS’s The Early Show, The Today Show, and on dozens of other national and local programs on CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, Food Network, Lifetime, and NY1.

Elisa is a freelance nutrition and health writer. Her work has appeared in Woman’s Day and Weight Watchers magazines, and she also served as a contributing editor for Redbook and Seventeen magazines. She is also a regular contributor to MSNBC.COM’s Chew on This column.

Elisa is the co-author of Feed Your Family Right! How to Make Smart Food and Fitness Choices for a Healthy Lifestyle (Wiley, 2007) and So What Can I Eat?! How to Make Sense of the New Dietary Guidelines for Americans and Make Them Your Own (Wiley, 2006). She just completed a third book, Nutrition At Your Fingertips, which will be published by Alpha books in November, 2009.

Elisa earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of science in clinical nutrition from New York University. She is also an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer. She lives in New York City with her husband and two sons aged 10½ and 7. She loves to stay active by running around with her boys, ice skating, bowling, and tap dancing.
